Ermoupoli (Syros Island)
Ermoupolis, the capital of Syros and the Cyclades as a whole. It was founded in 1821 when many Greeks were fleeing from the Turks so the population originated from many parts of Greece. The town has beautiful neoclassical architecture of churches, statues, monuments and mansions, many dating from the ‘’start’’ of Ermoupolis. 'Little Milan' is the nickname it has earned as a result.
