Myra
Just a short distance from Demre there is the ancient Lycian city of Myra. It looks down on high to the sea and is arguably the finest example of its kind in the whole coastline of Anatolia. The ruins, tombs and inscriptions date back to the centuries BC and provide evidence of how important Myra would have been. Under the Byzantines, it was a religious and administrative centre.
